Enhance search with fetch
Enhance search with fetch
Still current: this application has targeted AJAX search, not a newly supplied generic AJAX navigation runtime.
Steps
Use a same-origin endpoint, explicit credentials and no-store, debounce typing, abort stale reads, and render safe text.
// Read-only search; never persist the query or response in browser storage.
const response = await fetch(`/api/search?q=${encodeURIComponent(query)}`, {
credentials: 'same-origin',
cache: 'no-store',
headers: { Accept: 'application/json' },
});
if (!response.ok) throw new Error('Search unavailable');
const payload = await response.json();
titleElement.textContent = payload.results[0]?.title ?? 'No match';This is knowledge-base application code, not a general framework AJAX module. Ordinary article links and login forms retain native navigation. AI POST is not automatically retried: a timeout may still incur a charge.
Verify
Test expired sessions, malformed responses, rapidly changing input, keyboard focus, and offline failure. See AJAX contract for deferred broader behavior.
