Connected shipping: integration boundaries

The planned shipping service is intended to give connected platforms one consistent API boundary for shipping-label workflows.

A central connection point could reduce the need for each participating product to maintain its own separate shipping workflow. The product direction joins shipping-label activity with companion box-packing research while preserving the responsibilities of each connected system.

A meaningful pilot would trace an order through packaging context, label creation and the resulting shipping status, with clear treatment of failed or repeated requests. Carrier access, platform connections and supported operations require implementation and testing before they can be offered.

The box-packing algorithm remains a proprietary companion capability. Packing efficiency, shipping savings, supported carriers and service levels are not established claims. This documentation does not open a shipping API or issue credentials.

  • API-first product direction
  • Keep repeated requests and failure recovery explicit
  • Planned offering; integrations and performance require validation
